Membership in GoMOOS
GoMOOS is a dues-based membership organization. We welcome members from a variety of institutions. Membership is open to any legal entity: corporations, associations, educational institutions, non-profit organizations, trade organizations and government agencies.
If the data is freely available, why become a member?
- To support the delivery of real-time observations of the Gulf of Maine now and into the future.
- To ensure that GoMOOS fulfills its mission of being responsive to those with a direct stake in oceans data and develops as a user-based organization that evolves to meet future needs.
Benefits for your organization
- A forum for interaction with other organizations that share your interests and concerns. Click here for a list of current members
- Access to the decision-making process. Member representatives often participate on board appointed committees.
- A role in shaping and sustaining a long-term ocean observing system while directly representing your interests and needs.
Dues structure
Dues are based on a sliding scale to allow both large and small organizations to become members. The dues structure is scaled based on gross revenues of the member. All members, regardless of the level of their dues, will benefit equally from the activities of GoMOOS.
The membership year is a 12-month period beginning each September 1. Dues for members joining mid-year will be pro-rated.
